Good morning, readers! Are you ready for another Digit-al Dozen nail art week? This month’s prompt is Nail Heroes and I have a feeling we will see a big variety of posts this week. From companies and favorite artists to techniques and tools, I can’t wait to see what the ladies come up with!
For my first post, I’m paying homage to a very special nail hero who personally changed my blogging game: The Crumpet! Also known as Debbie, she has always been such an inspiration and really turned my blog around when she invited me to join the Digit-al Dozen so many years ago. I had a fairly new baby, in addition to my toddler, was struggling with life as a mom of two and a housewife, and was stuck in a “swatch and review” rut on Adventures In Acetone where I had little time for nail art anymore. When Debbie approached me, I joined the DD and found my love for nail art again and changed how things worked on AIA because of it. Still today, after joining in with the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts for the 40 Great Nail Art Ideas 52 week challenge, I’m finding some of my favorite manis are happening because of the new prompts. So while Debbie has slowed down her nail blogging game recently, I wanted to thank her so much for having such a huge impact on my nail blogging life. LOVE YOU, DEBBIE!
I love so many of Debbie’s past nail looks, but I’ve been very drawn to this gorgeous stamp decal she created using the It Girl stamping plate and the Color Club pastel neons since last year.http://www.the-crumpet.com/2015/08/it-girl-03-meets-color-club-pastel-neons.html
Sadly, I have neither the It Girl plate nor the Color Club pastel neons to do a complete recreation. However, I grabbed a handful of shades and my dotting tool to do my best shot!
- I started out with two coats of OPI Silver Canvas.
- Once that was dry, I used my dotting tool to draw “plus sign” shapes on the nail, interlocking similarly to Debbie’s design using the following colors: OPI Suzi Shops & Island Hops, OPI Is Mai Tai Crooked?, OPI I Just Can’t Cope-acabana, OPI You Are So Outta Lime!, China Glaze UV Meant to Be, and China Glaze That’s Shore Bright.
- I topped everything with two coats of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.
While it was kind of close to Debbie’s design, I really need to get my hands on that stamp plate and those gorgeous Color Clubs! What do you think? Check out what the other DD ladies have done for their first Nail Heroes Day below!
