Good morning, readers! Today begins an exciting Digit-al Dozen Week! It’s our 3rd anniversary and we are re-creating previous DD manis from our members! I’m starting out with one of my all time favorite DD member looks, by the lovely Katee from A Girl and Her Polish! Katee always has awesome fandom-inspired nails and we like a lot of the same shows and movies, so I turned to her Lord of the Rings mani from Fandom Week this June and attempted to re-create it. The adorable Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin heads blew me away when I first saw them–and the added ring script created such a perfect LOTR mani. I’ve tried my best with similar polishes, but Katee’s original design is cooler than mine. Go take a peek at her original mani here: The Digit-al Dozen Does: Fandom – Lord of the Rings.
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw my post about how my razor sliced off the tip of my ring finger nail this weekend. Sad day, I had to shorten every nail to the SHORTEST they could go, so we will be enjoying this fun Digit-al Dozen Re-creation Week with my nubbin nails.
- The base of the hobbit head nails is Nerd Lacquer TDBSLWCHSHITD. (Inspired by a funny line in LOTR: “The drawf breathes so loud, we could have shot him in the dark.” I thought it was a fitting base, I didn’t have the same green glitter that Katee used in her mani.)
- The faces are OPI My Vampire is Buff.
- The index Frodo hair was a combination of OPI How Great is Your Dane? and OPI Ice-Bergers & Fries.
- The middle Sam hair was a combination of OPI You’re So Vain-illa, OPI Is Mai Tai Crooked?, and OPI I Just Can’t Cope-acabana.
- The ring and pinky Merry and Pippin hair were a combination of OPI I Just Can’t Cope-acabana, OPI Good Grief!, and OPI Going My Way or Norway?
- The base of my thumb is Zoya Veruschka, and the writing was done with China Glaze Passion and a striper brush.
- Everything was sealed in with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.
