Good morning, readers! I hope all of my US readers had a nice Thanksgiving yesterday! We sure did, it was filled with lots of family and togetherness. This week’s 40 Great Nail Art Ideas prompt is Cartoons & Comics. There were so many possibilities I could be inspired by for this week, especially because we have two young children and cartoons are a hit around here. However, we got to watch Disney Pixar’s Inside Out last weekend for the first time and I knew it would be perfect for this week’s prompt. In case you haven’t seen it, there are 5 different emotions depicted by characters in the movie and they live in a little girl’s brain. The emotions are Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear–so I recreated them on my nails! You even get to see bonus pictures of my right hand mani in this post. The other important character in the movie is named Bing Bong and represents an old imaginary friend. I’ve painted Bing Bong on my right hand accent nail and then did overlapping polka dots on the other nails, inspired by the movie posters. Let’s take a closer look.

Pinky: Fear
The base of my manicure is two coats of OPI Give Me Space, from the new OPI Starlight Collection. I used acrylic craft paint and my Pure Color No. 9 striper brush to paint all of the characters. For the dots, I used the same paint and a large dotting tool and just didn’t touch the nail completely to create different sized dots. After a coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top to seal in the design, I decided to add a coat of Girly Bits Polish Matte’rs for a different finished look. The matte top coat showed off the character details better.
