TGIF! It’s Friday, it’s Friday! It’s a boat day for us, so I’ve scheduled this post ahead of time and will hopefully be out enjoying the sunshine and waves when you get to read this. It’s the final day of Nature Week with The Digit-al Dozen and today’s mani is possible thanks to another awesome tutorial in Idiot’s Guides: Nail Art by Emily from The Lacquerologist. I hope you’ve enjoyed the other nail art book inspired manis this week. I can’t recommend this book enough, and that’s my 100% total honest opinion.
As we have discussed before, florals are not my strong suit. I’m working and practicing though, so I was excited to try these Hydrangeas after looking through the book again. This tutorial can be found on pages 116-117 in the Intermediate Designs section.
- I started out with 2 coats of OPI Suzi Shops & Island Hops.
- Then, following Emily’s tutorial, I used different sized dotting tools to dot the following colors into clusters on the edges of my nails: OPI No Room For The Blues, Can’t Find My Czechbook, You’re Such A Budapest, Zoya Tove, and Zoya Lillian.
- I used my nail art brush to make simple leaves with Zoya Tilda and OPI Jade Is The New Black.
- KBShimmer Clearly On Top was used to seal it in and add shine.
What do you think? I like Emily’s version much better in the book. I think I should have made them more rounded in shape, like 1/4 of a circle, instead of diagonal across my nails. Other than that, I am happy with how these turned out!

This is beautiful. I love hydrangeas. I used to (well still do) call them snowball bushes. I think because when I was around 7 our next door neighbor had a backyard full and most of them were white and some were blue but yes, I called them snowball bushes. I can't ever remember the proper name of these snowball bush it is.
