The Digit-al Dozen DOES Re-creation, Day 3: Rainbow Ikat!

In Digit-al Dozen, Digit-al Dozen, Girly Bits, OPI by Jacki2 Comments

Good afternoon, readers! My third re-creation look for this special Digit-al Dozen week was inspired by Hannah from The Dalai Lama’s Nails! Her original design was from way back in September of last year and I remember loving it so much and wanting to try it some time.  Rainbow creme polishes painted in stripes with the ikat technique and a matte top coat really make a fun mani! Hannah has so many awesome manis that I’d love to recreate and I had a hard time narrowing this one down, but I am thrilled with the result! The overlapping stripes almost look like color drips!

I started with red tips of OPI Coca-Cola Red and let them dry. Next, I grabbed my Pure Color No. 10 nail art brush and painted messy, short vertical swipes moving sideways across the nail, overlapping part of the red with OPI In My Back Pocket. Once they were dry, I moved onto the yellow and so on with the following colors: OPI Good Grief!, OPI You Are So Outta Lime!, OPI No Room For the Blues, and OPI Lost My Bikini in Molokini. Once the purple layer dried, I added a coat of Girly Bits Polish Matte’rs matte top coat.

What do you think of this fun mani? I prefer Hannah’s nail length for this design but I think that’s me still being picky about my shorties. This is such an easy design and would look awesome with other color combos as well. Check out what the other ladies did for day 3 below.
