Good morning and Happy Monday! Haha, who am I kidding? Mondays are hard, but sometimes I enjoy the normalcy of a Monday morning after a crazy and fun weekend. A lot of my Monday mornings are spent cleaning up from the weekend, catching up on dishes and laundry, lounging on the couch with the kiddos, and hopefully painting my nails/getting a post up for you lovely readers.

I have a fun mani to share with you today that I loved wearing last week! I have the OPI Color Paints Collection to share with you and I’m having a great time trying them in various nail art looks. My first mani, inspired by the wonderful Emily at The Lacquerologist, is a variation of her OPI Color Paints Splash Floral she posted 2 months ago. I made my flowers centered as a half moon instead of her signature corner florals, but it still has a similar feel. I layered three of the OPI Color Paints for a messy blending over OPI Silver Canvas (the silver foil included with the Color Paints display) giving it a very metallic feel.

  • I started out with two coats of OPI Silver Canvas on all of my nails and let dry.
  • Then, starting with the cuticle line and working toward the tip, I painted OPI Primarily Yellow about 1/3 down the nail and let dry.
  • Next, I grabbed OPI Landscape Artist and messily painted the middle 1/3 of the nail, slightly overlapping the yellow. I tried to avoid a definite straight line where it stopped.
  • OPI Turquoise Aesthetic was the final base color and I painted this onto the tips and overlapped the green.
  • The simple half moon florals were done with Salon Perfect Black Ink striper nail art polish and a dotting tool added a few dots to the centers.
  • KBShimmer Clearly on Top was used as the top coat.

This was a fun first try with the OPI Color Paints and I am anxious to try more looks with them. I hear they are GREAT for water marbling so let’s see if I am brave enough to give that a shot. Have you tried them yet?

I’ve been wondering, what is special about this line that makes it function differently than their regular ones?
