Good morning, readers! As I’ve written in past posts, I am a big fan of nail, cuticle, and hand care. I’m a recent convert to the world of crystal glass nail files. I found myself repurchasing my regular files over and over again at Sally Beauty Suppy often and it was quite the pain. Lugging the kids to Sally’s is one of the least fun things I can do–you moms with little ones can surely agree with that one. I was also having peeling on my nail tips and a friend recommended glass nail files to help. They can be more gentle on the nails and have a practically unlimited lifespan. Another added positive note about glass files is that they are easily cleaned.
I was contacted by Aveniro a month or two ago about trying out some of their crystal glass files. Aveniro is a manufacturer and wholesale seller of Bohemian crystal glass files from the Czech Republic. I was happy to agree and have been using them since they arrived. Let’s take a look at what I received and my thoughts below.
A pedicure file, a cuticle stick, and three regular crystal glass files.
I live in Central Florida and would have loved the pedicure file at the beginning of the summer (or spring, rather, when the flip flops are back on) to get my feet sandal ready. We are well into the summer and sandy days here but I still liked using the pedicure file to smooth my heels. There are two different grit sides and I liked using the rougher one to get any calluses and dead skin off before flipping the file over to smooth out the rest of the skin. As I said above, this was easily washed with my antibacterial hand soap after use and looks brand new again. The thicker glass kept me from worrying about breaking it while scrubbing my heels. A+ from me!
The three regular glass files were also great. They all came in a protective sleeve (like the pedicure file, forgot to mention that above) and two were a standard length while one was shorter. The shorter is perfect for throwing in my purse for those sudden broken nail moments away from home. The stones on the decorated file feel very secure. They each have two different grits and both are gentle enough for my natural nails. I recommend filing in one direction along the nail tip. Sawing back and forth can cause damage to your nails. Also, be aware that they file much more nail off in one sweep than the standard nail files–make sure to pay attention when you are shortening your nails or you can take too much off!
My very favorite thing I received was this cuticle stick. It has two different ends: one for pushing cuticles back and then the end I’m showing above. The pushing side is like most typical cuticle pushers with a smooth flat end that slides across the nail. As for the end I’m showing above: the rounded end comes to a point and can be used to clean under the nails. I however, prefer to use it to gently remove dead cuticle left on the nail plate after using cuticle remover. The shape is perfect for gently scraping off the stubborn dead cuticle.
One note on any crystal glass file: don’t drop them. The etched surfaces will last, but they are still glass (aka: breakable). I broke the tip off of the pushing side of the cuticle stick while putting into my drawer and it slipped to the tile floor instead. I also know multiple friends that have had a file drop and snap in half.
Overall, I have had a positive experience using these crystal glass nail files from Aveniro. You can learn more about their files at http://www.aveniro.com. Some of their products can be found for purchase at http://www.classynailfiles.com. You can purchase directly from Aveniro if you have 100+ pieces per order (for all of you indie shops, they can do logos!).

These sounds awesome, especially the cuticle remover and foot file!
I switched to glass files almost two years ago after I got one from OPI in a promo pack with Nail Envy, and haven’t looked back since. The OPI one is used at home and I carry a mini-file by NailTek in my purse – the NailTek one comes in a great little hard protective case. They make filing so much easier and they don’t need to be replaced, just wash them off and they’re as good as new. Now I need to get a couple more for my ballet and gym bags just in case…I’ve been known to whack my hand into a barre or weight machine on occasion. x_x
I switched over to using the Mont Bleu crystal glass files a while back, and it has made such a huge difference in how my nails look and feel. And I love how you can personalize them and they have a wide variety of colors and designs….great gift idea for the ladies in your life. And no more having to buy new boards! YAY! Highly, highly recommend the Mont Bleu files.
Wow! those glass nail files look amazing. But I want to say one thing here is that everyone out there should try Mont Bleu glass nail files once, I guarantee you that you’ll like it. I insist you to check’em them out and you’ll tell me that it’s a great product.
I have heard very good things about the Mont Bleu glass nail files. A friend of mine showed me hers and I could not believe the quality. She purchased it online and said they ship from the Czech Republic. The details are awesome and they are very smooth on my nails. I think it would last a long time just based on the quality alone.
