The Digit-al Dozen DOES Autumn, Day 1: Owl!

Good morning, readers! It’s another nail art week with The Digit-al Dozen and the theme for this week is Autumn. I don’t typically grab “autumn colors” when I paint my nails so this week is going to be a big challenge for me. To begin, I’ve created a cute little owl on a tree surrounded by Autumn colored leaves. The base is my first try at squish stamping and I love how it gave the appearance of autumn leaves out of focus in the background!

As I said above, my base is a “squish stamped” design. If you are unfamiliar, I just added a bunch of tiny dabs of OPI Romantically Involved, OPI It’s A Piazza Cake, and OPI Good Grief! to my ÜberChic Uber Mat and then pressed my stamper onto it. It blends the polish together into a thin layer on the stamp head and then you press it onto the nail. I painted a layer of Girly Bits Border Patrol around my nails before I started to help with cleanup.
Next, I painted a cute little owl and some branches for him to sit on with the following polishes: Zoya Dree, OPI Icebergers & Fries, OPI Going My Way or Norway?, OPI How Great Is Your Dane?, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, and OPI It’s A Piazza Cake.
Girly Bits Polish Matte’rs was used as a top coat to take away the shine.

I so must try that squishy stamping technique – the effect is just great! And you’re right!, it gives you that mixed Autumn leaves feeling. Loved this one – the cute owl is like a cherry on top!
