Bright Coral Comparison Post!

In Comparison, KBShimmer, Nails, OPI by Jacki3 Comments

Confession time: I love coral polish. Way back before I was into doing my own nails, I would almost always pick an OPI coral polish when I would go for pedicures at the salon with my Mom. Although my blog has opened me up to other color families that get most of my attention(teals and violets, I’m looking at you!), I still love wearing coral on my toes. Sure, I wear it on my finger nails, too, but nothing says summer pedi to me like a bright coral. I even have a bright coral pedi right now!
A few nail polish friends asked me to do a comparison of some of the more recent corals that I’ve reviewed so here is a comparison in case you can’t decide which to buy. The pictures are labeled and I’m showing three coats of each polish: OPI Down To The Core-al (from the Neons Collection), KBShimmer You’re So Shellfish (from the Summer Collection), OPI Toucan Do It If You Try (From the Brazil Collection), and OPI Live.Love.Carnaval. (also from the Brazil Collection.)

As you can see in the bottles and on the nail, they are similar for sure. No dupes though. I’ll break it down for you:
  • OPI Down To The Core-al has a slight shimmer and was the hardest to work with because of the neon formula.
  • KBShimmer You’re So Shellfish is brighter and my personal favorite. (That’s my current pedi!) It is a squishy crelly formula so although it needed three coats for full coverage, it wasn’t due to a bad or uneven formula. It was just a tad sheer. It’s the brightest in person as well.
  • OPI Toucan Do It If You Try is the typical OPI creme formula, needing two to three coats depending on how thin you apply them.
  • OPI Live.Love.Carnaval had the same formula as Toucan Do It If You Try, but it leans more pink and less orange than it’s counterpart.

Which is your favorite? It’s all about personal preference on color tones, mine is the brightness of KBShimmer You’re So Shellfish. I do like them all, though, so I hope this helps you decide if the one you’ve had on your wish list is too close to another you have, or just helps you narrow down which one you want for your summer pedis! Thanks so much for reading!
